Job Description: Guest Operations Manager
Moody Mansion is seeking a full-time Guest Operations Manager. The mansion is a premier 1895 house museum which welcomes over 35,000 guests per year for tours and events in the heart of Historic Galveston, Texas. The former home of one of Texas’ wealthiest families, the home has been faithfully restored, furnished and maintained as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Classification: Exempt salaried position, 40+ hours a week. Normal office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, with frequent hours in the evenings and on weekends. Moody Mansion is open to the public 362 days a year with regular hours 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Overall Scope of Position: The Guest Operations Manager oversees and coordinates services provided for visitors to the Moody Mansion. These services include tours (guided and self-guided), facility rental reservations and events, special events and educational programs. The Guest Operations Manager recruits, trains, supervises, evaluates, and schedules hourly part-time employees who are the day-to-day “faces” of Moody Mansion, greeting and providing a brief overview for guests. The quality of this personal interaction with guests is a priority. Maintaining high quality while promoting increased visitation and expanding guest programming is a primary responsibility.
The Guest Operations Manager works with other staff to develop new tours and special events. This position along with the Campus Facilities Manare is a primary coordinator for community events and facility rentals.
The Guest Operations Manager also visits schools and attends off-premises meetings for educational outreach, schedules and conducts group tours, and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education – bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Experience – 2-3 years of supervisory experience, preferred employment experience in heritage tourism, the hospitality industry and/or non-profit organizations. Must demonstrate proven success with prior experience in improving operational processes and customer satisfaction.
- Skills – Strong computer and organizational skills, ability to develop and track department and program budgets. Ability to speak and understand English; a second language is an advantage.
- Personal qualities – A strong interest in learning and communicating history, especially Moody Family, Galveston and Texas history, is fundamental. Demonstrated enjoyment of personal interaction with people of all ages and backgrounds, able to juggle multiple tasks at one time, self-motivated and self-directed, able to delegate tasks when necessary.
